defo burn in risk from static operating system images both on windows and mac such as the dock or windows button etc. No go for PC use in my opinion..too risky, plus increased costs, not worth it.

TBH I think the reason they aren't more popular for laptops is the nature of OLED makes them unsuitable IMO. Even a gaming PC is probably going to be used for other things so burn in of the OS screen furniture seems inevitable even before we consider game HUDs.

Who's clever idea was this? The amount of time people spend on there computers with browsers and other bright things that have static icons and buttons to click is so long. These laptops screens aren't going to last long at all unless LG have come up with a magical fix to OLED screenburn/screenware.

Before people point out screen savers even the screen saver since its the same short thing in a loop could damage the screen. The screen saver would have to be set to go total black or turn screen off.
That however still won't resolve the issue of people using them for hours and hours with static images.

One good thing about this is it might show us how reliable OLED screens truly are if large amounts of people start using them on laptops.

I winder if they'll offer a 10 year burn-in warranty on these?

Does anyone know what the pixel structure is for these displays?

Samsung phones such as my S9 have a "pentile" display where each pixel only has two sub-pixels - red and blue or green or blue. This way 50% of the sub-pixels are blue and 25% are green and 25% red. This is done because blue is the weakest OLED emitter so requires more sub-pixels to maintain similar brightness without fading faster than red or green. However, the disadvantage of this is that to display a colour that mixes red green and blue requires 2 pixels to work together - effectively halving the resolution.

LG? This oled panel is made by Samsung for starters, also oled screens get used on phones that probably get much more use than a pc screen will and they have icons etc on screen most of the time, not a hint of screen burn on my Samsung s8 plus yet in well over a years use, its not as much as a disaster as you're making out imo
