big screen laptop recommendation?

up until now i've been a desktop pc guy but a house move and limited living room space calls for a change. i'm used to a big monitor so thinking of a 17.3" screen. i'm not going to use it for gaming, just general pc use. one thing i will do though is connect it to my tv for video viewing, therefore i'd like something that can play 4k video files, locally stored and also youtube. is an i5 likely to suffice? - or would it need an i7 ?
any particular model recommendations also appreciated - last laptop i owned was a dell, do they still offer value or have other brands taken over?

Is it size of the monitor or is it resolution that you are after...The two don't necessarily go hand in hand. Also do you need that size or space all the time or only when you need to do certain thing? Reason for asking is that I give my laptop a second mobile screen via my iPad at times
