place the tower in horizontal posisiton??

I have a lenovo 310s tower. In the start guide, it states the tower can only be placed in vertical position. Is it ok to place it horizontally? Would it cause any damage to the hardwares?

So far as I can see, it has feet on the side and bottom, so no, it should not be an issue to put it on its side. Just make sure the case vents are uppermost and not obstructed.

Cooling should not be an issue and nothing will move or fall out.

I also  think it is ok to place it in either position. I don't understand why its start guide says it can only be placed in vertical postion.

As far as I can see the only desktop bearing 310s as part of it's modelname is the ideapad 310s.

Going by the pictures on Lenovo's Website that model clearly has no feet on the sides and air intake vents running along both sides of the facia so placing it on it's side would reduce the intake airflow by almost half.

As it's been designed to work in a single orientation you may also be further disrupting the cooling by changing the direction in which the hot air naturally wants to rise internally.

So there is the potential for putting it on the side to cause the fan to run louder or the performance to have to throttle to keep the heat in check. If you could have the front overhanging the surface it's on then that would certainly help.

I found this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-ideacentre-310S-Desktop-Processor/dp/B07C1T95C8 image and it shows feet on the side / bottom and a very narrow vent along the front, which will do very little. The feet should lift the PC high enough to allow airflow through the vents in any case.

Slim towers like this often suffer more from cooling issues than either full size towers or desktop machines, as the main board is fitted vertically and the heat tends to travel up along the board unless pulled away.

To be fair, these are fairly low spec machines, so we are not talking about huge amounts of heat generated in any case. It's not like they are a high power gaming machine with GPUs and arrays of drives adding to the heat build up.
