dell fault

Hi sons girlfriends laptop wont boot so get the 2 amber 3 white led error code fault which comes up with the following "No memory or RAM detected" so opened it up and tried the stick of ram in the 2 available slots, anything else I could try, don't want to buy another stick of ram in case its the board ?

Hi its a Dell Inspiron 15 5565 with 8GB, 2400, 1RX8, 8G, DDR4, S ram

Having looked at info on the dell site it would seem it's a ram problem. If it was a System board or chipset error you would see a 2   6 error code. I can't see any other way of testing the problem other than having a like system to test the ram on.

Thanks for that, tried to talk them into buying the cheapest stick of ram to try and solve it before I posted but she has a new laptop and doesn’t want to spend any more on this one. Maybe I will have a search and buy a cheap one without telling them

The ram is DDR4 2400hz sodimm

Here's some link sfor a comparatively cheap stick from a reputable sellers, with Amazon it's easier to return it if you don't want it though

You can get it cheaper on the likes of the bay but not so good for returning unwanted product.
