A wombat is, as you probably know a short legged marsupial from Australia. A "butty" is a northern English term for a sandwich, and a butty box is a box where you store yer errmm butty.
Combine the butty box with a marsupials pouch and.... Sweaty butties.......

Hey Mr. KG,
Had heard of a Wombat, but had little actual awareness of them. BUT, the Internet being what it is, found THIS:

Wombat - Wikipedia

Being on a ROLL (pun intended), found THIS:

Butty - Wikipedia

Here in the Colonies, the box where one stores yer "sammich" is a "Lunch Box", or "Lunch Bucket", which have by and large become passe', and have been replaced with Brown Paper Bags, the utilizing of which is called "Brown Bagging". BUT just on a whim, found THIS:

butty box - Google Search

It appears that Butty Boxing is quite stylish.

AND since a Wombat's pouch is open at the BACK instead of at the FRONT (a configuration that keeps dirt off of the Wombat's Joey), there'll be no dirt on "yer errmm" Sweaty Butties!

So is the phrase: "It's hotter than a wombats butty box." a well worn axiom to describe how HOT it is in the UK? We here in Texas have a phrase that describes how COLD it is that avers: "It's colder than a Witches' Titty!"

Anyway, enjoyed your humor, and appreciate your encouragement. Was out this morning running the weekly errands, and doing the weekly shopping. By the time I arrived back home, had just enough energy to get everything out of Lorrie Van Haul, and stashed away, but the doing of more will have to wait till tomorrow morning when I'm rested. Am going to get the Water Heater installed tomorrow even if it hare-lips every cow in Texas.

Hope you're staying cool.

A Wombat as in Terfyn's frase is nothing to do with a marsupial, but more to do with a drunken idiot (to keep it polite on the forum) on their way home from a night on the beer

Mark.

Hey Mark,
That was why I asked Mr. T., if he'd like to elucidate. I kind of suspected that the Wombat in his phrase wasn't a REAL Wombat. BUT, I was suspecting something a bit darker, considering the first four letters in the name of the marsupial. Am glad now that I didn't give my instincts free reign.

Along with all the assistance on matters technical, am getting a bit more up-to-speed on the sense of humor that is rife here at AVF. What with Butties, and Butty Boxes, Wombats and wombats (both real and after-hours), am really enjoying being here.

BTW, how is Mr. Greenhalgh's name pronounced? Would I be safe in assuming that the "gh" isn't pronounced as an "f", but is rather silent (like the "p" in swimming)?

So a bit of news of progress from here: Have gotten the Water Heater put into the Water Heater Closet. Got the Cold Water Inlet connected. Got the Hot Water Outlet connected. Have the Wires Wire-Nutted together properly, and am taking a bit of a break before doing the hard part, which is the connecting of the Ground Wire. The location where IT connects is nearly inaccessible.

Once that is done, will have but to connect the Relief Valve to the Drain Plumbing, and the task will be finished. Will have aught but to turn on the Cold Water, open the Lavatory's Hot Water Faucet (to relieve the air pressure), wait till the Tank is full, and then turn on the Electricity.

It has all gone famously, albeit slow as swimming in frozen honey, but time was NOT of the essence.

Anyway, hope you all are staying cool, and taking great care.

Oh I don't know though. There is a remarkable similarity. Talking about Butties, have you come across the Conny Onny Sarny (Liverpudlian condensed milk sandwich)
Sorry!

We are presently contemplating replacing our Panasonic plasma TV with a
Panasonic TX49FX750B
49 inch 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart LED TV Freeview Play
The problem is that the current telly is still running beautifully (since 2005) so difficult to make a case. I am still in HD mode for my videos and yet to venture into 4K.

Hey Mr. T.,
Googled it. Got THIS:

LTHForum.com - Conny-Onny Buttie: A Scouser Treat

No, no, no... Mark said that this is, after all, MY thread. Nothing is "Off Topic" here!

It's time to see, said the Manatee
And rhyme with glee a variety
Of Bats and Balls,
and Bats with Wings,
Of Brussel Sprouts,
And aging Queens!

Hey All,
United Parcel Service just delivered TWO, 6'-0" long, 3.5mm Stereo Female TO 1/4" Stereo Male Audio Extension Cords which will connect the Caliphone Headphone/Microphone Set to the Behringer XENYX502 Mixer. This completes The Scryer DTV Setup.

Starting on Saturday, will be doing a 1.5 hour practice session each morning from 5:00 to 6:30 a.m. on The Crystalume. Will, when the virtuosity is sufficient be recording on The Scryer DTV Setup.

Have had quite an eventful day. Prepared Karel, the 42" Craftsman Lawn Tractor to mow the Lawns here at the AllisonWonderland Compound in Sam Houston National Forest in Deep East Texas. Had to top off the Oil, fill the Gas Tank, clean the Spark Plug, and Sharpen the Blades. Once all that was done, mowed the Lawns. Finished up by using a Leaf Blower to blow the clippings off of Karel, and put her back under her Tarps for two more weeks.

Am all set to get Ms. American 3.14159 (a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, Four-Door, Hard-Top, Fast-back, Police Interceptor) Inspected and Licensed tomorrow after an appointment with the NEW Primary Care MDeity tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Getting the old Gal back on the road has been a project that has taken since last January to finally realize.

Hope this finds you all doing well.

Take care.

Hey All,
Have just powered up the Behringer XENYX502 Mixer.

For those who are interested, the Red 3.5mm Stereo Male Plug on the Califone Headphone/Microphone Set IS, as Mr. Terfyn said, the Microphone.

So far, everything is working as advertised.

The 2-Track IN must be working because the 2-Track OUT going to the Altec Lansing Speakers work GREAT. The feed to the Califone Headphones is also working properly.

The Panasonic Camcorder had not been turned on for quite a while, but the Battery that maintains the Time/Date in the Viewfinder, AND on the Seceptre X33 TV is still working, and keeping perfect time with The Scryer.

Next thing to do is to see if a Video Capture via the 1394 IEEE Firewire to The Scryer's HDD using either Windows Movie Maker or VideoMeld will also pick up the Audio sent from The Scryer to the XENYX502 Mixer and then on to the Panasonic Camcorder's Audio IN port through the attenuator Cable recommended by Mr. Terfyn and MarkE.

There is yet one more thing to get connected, and that is The Scryer to the Sceptre X33 TV so what has been recorded can be seen on both the Dell 27" Monitor, and the Sceptre TV.

Just on a whim, picked up the Panasonic Camcorder's Remote Controller, which had NEVER been used since the Camcorder was bought well over a decade ago, and wonder of wonders, it WORKS. It STILL has the ORIGINAL Battery! It even puts all the menus in the View Finder on the Sceptre X33 TV Screen. It also controls the Zoom IN and OUT. It also controls FADE IN, and FADE OUT, but think that THAT would only be if one were using the on-board MiniDV Cassette Deck.

In any case, am going to have to figure out the order of the routine that must be followed to 1) Get the Audio to play in a repeating loop. 2) Get the Video/Audio Capture set up with either Windows Movie Maker or VideoMeld. 3) Get The Crystalume operating in record mode. 4) Start the Capture. 5) Start performing with The Crystalume. And finally 6) Stop everything.

And now, would like to broach something that has caused some trepidation. It may or may not be necessary, but am just going to blurt it out anyway.

In an earlier post was posted a parody of a bit of the Lewis Carroll poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter" which goes:

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--"

My parody of that goes:

"It's time to see," said the Manatee
"And rhyme with glee a variety:
Of Bats and Balls--and Bats with Wings--
Of Brussel Sprouts--and aging Queens--!"

The reason that I'm feeling trepidatious is because there has been no responses to this thread since THAT post. The thought occurred to me that maybe it was offensive! Twas not meant to offend. And as you can see, it was NOT a reference to The Queen of England (if THAT is still a proper term). Just let me say that if what was written DID offend, then my sincere apology is hereby tendered. Nuff said.

Anyway, spent the morning readying Ms. American 3.14159 for inspection early Monday morning before it gets too warm for me to be out. Then getting the XENYX502 up and running has rendered me about done for for today.

Hope this finds you all doing well.

Take care.
