reminds me that Pana "User Guides" are confusing not very helpful for new users... having all the Model-variants in the one document . . . Isn't it plain laziness not to make them specific to one model ( =the one you have bought), , e.g by a "tagging system" so when you tick the model the other stuff disappears?

This is the answer I got from Panasonic:- Therefore for the UK the model number should be HC-V800EB-K (Europe Britain-Colour black). The EG-K should be Europe Germany colour black.
Saved me from buying a cheaper HC-V800 which was aimed at the German market. I wonder, if any, what the difference is?
There are minor differences between the PAL standards in the UK and Germany, but I don't think they would affect the camcorder specs.
I would think difficulties with 'grey market' warranty claims are the most likely cause of any problems when buying a European model ...
