We're approaching the time our eldest will consign us to a stint in school holiday's prison, so have decided to get some nice holidays in.

I already have a D90 and iPhone X which covers us for land based pictures. Between the two we're highly unlikely to use a compact camera. For casual trips we use our phones and for longer trips the DSLR gets an outing.

What I'm looking for is a cheap camera to cover snorkelling and diving (not qualified, just recreational  dives, so <20m):

- Sensor/Lens - Decent image quality, particularly in challenging light conditions is the main priority.
- Higher FPS the better as the fish move fast
- Videos/Pics would be for personal consumption, so HD is fine (probably preferable given the size of 4k videos).
- Don't need wireless transfer of pics. I have plenty of SD cards and always take a laptop due to work.
- A small screen to help frame the image would be desirable.
- May pay more for OIS. What are the cheapest options with OIS?

Looking to spend sub £100. It's really only going to be used for underwater activities, so my moneys probably better spent on another lens for the D90 which will get much more use.

Thanks

Remember to test the waterproof case without the camera in for watertightness.

Good point. It's one of the reasons I'm tempted to go for a solution like the Olympus Tough TG. Eliminates possibility of user error.

Don't, I had one before the SJ6, you still have to fit a cover over the lens, I think they may have been discontinued by Olypus.
Sorry it was the Tracker. TG‑Tracker - TOUGH - Olympus

Actually it was the tracker I was considering. I've seen it as low as £130, although not sure about the retailer.

Now considering some of the others recommended here. Or even a GoPro HD (2018).

I think the tracker is the one that's had 3 different versions & that's why the price is low. Check the feedback on other sites. The SJ6 has loads of features, have you checked the spec. The only thing I miss is zoom.

I'm trying to stick to my original idea of keeping it cheap given it will only be used on holidays for snorkelling/diving. But will probably fail and spend a fortune

Thanks for the temptation

Yep, SJ6 looks like a good contender.

I've stuck both it and the GoPro HD on a price watch, whilst I narrow down options. If theres a price fall before I find a better option I'll probably grab either of those.
