Testing an old Sony Z1U. Great when you get the hang of it

This Sony Z1U HD camera came out in 2005 and cost about 5K. I got this one for about $400. Once you learn how to use it the quality is quite good but there is a learning curve. I have a used Canon coming that I am excited about. It was in the same price range as this one.

It's an excellent Pro-style camcorder, but uses tape. You can get a Sony adaptor that allows solid-state memory cards to be used without the tape-drive ( DYOR) but it's Non-SD as I recall, meaning the cards are expensive.
It may not be up to the best filmic quality of v. modern camcorders and is heavy to lug about - but then, it does give a Professional "aire" and you should get very good images.

Good Luck.
