Composite sd-sdi

Evening ladies and gents.
I wonder if you can help me with something again. I'm looking at a video controller on eBay (brick house Callisto R, along with its controller) its mqnual is here. Now I have a camera that has composite video (yellow plug, be kind to me please!) So I've messaged the guy and he's replied with this:

No, sorry, your cameras would not work with this. The mixer needs an SD-SDI video camera input.

So my question is easy really is the issue simply just the connection? Or is the data stream totally different?

If it's the connection, looking at the images it's a standard BNC connector, surely a BNC to composite plug should do it? Or am I a total noob? (Be kind.....again )

SDI is a professional video signal that is preferred in production environments because of its longer range (up to 300 feet) and reliability, since it’s typically sent along BNC Cabling that has specialized connectors on each end to lock into the devices they connect to.

I think you are looking at two different worlds so I guess it will not work. SDI is more akin to HDMI than your A/V output.

SDI stands for Serial Digital Interface
As the name suggests it is a digital signal and composite video is analogue. So any converter would likely be expensive as it is not only converting the signal format but also digitising it. So definitely not just a connector that needs to be converted to fit the devices.
