Hi all
I am right now preparing a complete gear setup for a small production company. Until now they worked with a Canon 7D Mark I and some rented Sony PMW320. They are making primarily corporate movies, documentary and commercials. There is a budget of around 20.000 euros for cameras and lenses.
They would want two cameras in their equipment: one smaller (DSLR-like) camera for use in a run-n-gun rig, and one bigger EFP/ENG-style camera.
I have foreseen this gear:
CAMERAS
Canon 5D Mark IV
to replace the 7D Mark I
Can be used with their run-n-gun rigs they already have
Can be used in the same rig as shoulder mounted too
There are two Canon lenses available from the 7D (not the fastest ones...)
Blackmagic URSA Broadcast
In fact I want the new mini pro G2 but it isnt deliverable yet
I prefer this one above the mini 4k and mini 4.6k because of extra display (for audio monitoring)
Accessories: viewfinder, ssd recorder, vmount battery, shoulder rig, EF lens mount adapter
LENSES
Sigma 24-35 DG f/2 Art
for use with the Canon 5D
High and fixed aperture lens
Small zoom capabilities to quickly adjust framing
To make use of the automatic features of the 5D like autofocus and auto aperture
Sigma 24-35 f/2.2 Cine lens
Same as above, but for manual use (declicked aperture) and higher quality
Can be used for the 5D and the Ursa broadcast (with ef to b4 adapter)
Fujinon LA16x8BRM 4K lens
In combination with the Ursa broadcast who has a B4 lens mount.
To use the blackmagic in ENG-style or for run n gun shoots
To use blacmmagics automatic mode (autofocus, auto iris)
Offcourse there are other accessories like tripod, audio, battery, ... But Im not in a doubt for these so I only ask advice for the camera and lenses.
The biggest disadvantage of the URSA Broadcast for me is it maximum resolution, which is 3840. Other camera's (including thé 5D) are going to 4096 or higher (like the new mini pro G2). But they don't have the time to wait some more weeks (or months, or years) for Blackmagic to start selecting the new camera.
Any thoughts and advices?
