I recently bought a new desktop PC & up graded from W7 Pro to W10 Pro. I transferred all my files from the C & D drives to a stand alone 2 TB hard drive. I was trolling through some old video clips from 1995 that were originally VHSC tapes converted to digital. A couple of them wouldn't play with Windows Media Player, so I let the PC search for a suitable programme to play them. It came up with MPEG-2 Video extension a Microsoft product. I installed it for free & tried the old videos I couldn't play in WMP & bingo it works. The moral of the story is, don't ditch those old files that don't play give this app a try if you haven't found it already, of course.
