I have the Panasonic TX-50DX802B, and recently returned my Sky box which had been connected to HDMI 1, without problem. I connected my Humax pvr to this connection, but was unable to get any sound. I then tried a You View box, with same result, although both worked perfectly in the other three sockets. I initially had not disconnected the HDMI from the set, and just transferred the other end to the other two boxes, so am at a loss to understand the cause. Incidentally, I have also tried new lead connected to HDMI 1, with same negative result....any suggestions?

It sounds as though you hot-swapped (TV and/or boxes still powered) the HDMI leads. Unplug both completely from the mains sockets. Wait a few minutes, connect the leads, power on the Tv then a few minutes later switch on the box.

Thanks JayCee, and I have done all that, (the upside is that all my wiring is now nice and tidy), but still have the same problem. I have a junction box that gets me round the problem, but would really love to know what's causing it

If you hot-plugged the HDMI connection you may have fried the socket, and give that the other sockets seem OK, that might be the case.

Is the Humax PVR set to output sound via optical/RCA etc?
Check it's settings.

Thanks Andy, but Humax is working perfectly on HDMI 3, and YouView on HDMI 2. It's purely on HDMI 1 that the problem is, where neither will get sound. HDMI 1 was working perfectly before, with, originally a Humax Freesat box. I have never had a problem in the past by changing cables when box was switched on, so was unaware that this could cause problems. If, in fact this is what has caused the sound problem, I don't know how to rectify it.

Very strange,so you get picture and no sound right?Surely if the port was fried you would get no sound or picture? Ive always just unplugged the hdmi leads connected to the TV without switching off the source or the tv,have done for years as have never heard of this '''' hot swapping " having read this thread I now realise I've been lucky but won't do it again.
