I recently purchased a Samsung UE40MU6120 and very occasionally, whilst connected to a Sky HD box, the screen will turn pink and I'll lose the sound. I have to then put the Sky box into standby and switch it on again to get it back to normal. I've tried different HDMI inputs and happens on all of them. I understand that this could be a HDMI handshaking problem but where is the issue, the Sky box or the TV?

Anyone else had this issue, should I be contacting the retailer for a replacement?

Unfortunately it occurs very randomly so very difficult to replicate it if I'd have to return the TV.

Have you tried a replacement HDMI cable as that's the first thing to try?

I think this is one thing I'll have to try, we're currently using the supplied HDMI cable with the Sky box and it's not had an issue in the past but I'll definitely swap it for another to see if it does anything.

One thing to add, the Sky box supplied HDMI cable is currently routed along with the power cable within trunking. Could this be an issue, ie, the cable isn't shielded enough? I seem to remember that we (my dad) had issues with the old TV and HDMI connection but that had disappeared after I had moved the cable out of the trunking when I changed inputs on that TV.

I doubt it's proximity to the power cable is the cause of the pink screen but try a replacement to be on the safe side.

They replaced the panel on mine today. I was getting a brighter picture on one section of the screen. Only had mine for 14 months, but luckily I bought it from John Lewis with a 5 year warranty so no problem or hassle getting it sorted. I only reported the problem last Tuesday so they were very quick acting upon it.

If anyone knows where I find the settings to ensure I am getting a 4k picture when watching blu ray I would be very grateful.

On most TV's you would press the “i”(info) button on the remote and the resolution and other info should appear.
