Inverse ghosting can be a result of pushing overdrive on an LCD display too high, some PC monitors have this setting which is user adjustable, TV's do not have this setting. In this case perhaps the HDMI VRR mode engages a higher overdrive mode but LG forgot to QA check it for artifacts.
Is this issue peculiar to your TV or common to SM9 LCD TV's, that I do not know. I would post about this issue on the LG USA community site, that may at least get some traction on the issue as LG reps there can forward it to the engineering team.
When LG first launched VRR support on OLEDs it had a bunch of problems but they have since fixed those, perhaps the LCD's got overlooked.
The VRR range of LG is 40-120hz at 1080p/1440p but at 2160p/4K it is limited to 40-60Hz for HDMI 2.0 devices, very few Xbox One games actually benefit from VRR sadly even 60fps ones, your not loosing too much with it disabled though next gen it should make a bigger difference.
Hopefully LG can sort it out. |
