Hi,
I recently bought the TV in my post title and was wondering if anyone could offer any info on the type of panel this TV uses?
From what I have been able to find on the internet, the 43" version of this TV uses an IPS panel but the 49" which I have uses a VA panel. The reason I ask is that I notice that when I view this TV from head on the colours and blacks seem better than viewing from an angle above or below the tv, my understanding is that this is more apparent on VA panels that IPS, however when viewing from a side on angle the colours don't seem to fade as much as I was led to believe a VA panel would which makes me think it could be an IPS panel. Displayspecifications.com list my TV as having a VA panel but again I have read that this site is not always accurate.
At the end of the day the TV is bought and paid for now so its only for my own interest what type of panel this TV uses. I have taken a photo of the pixels as close as I can get with my Nikon and a Macro lens, when I look at close ups of panels the IPS ones seem to have the pixels on an angle as opposed to vertically on a VA panel, but again Im not really that clued up on all of this so cannot be sure. Below is a close up of my TVs pixels if it helps at all...
I know the TV is edge lit, does this determine the panel type of can you edge light IPS and VA? If so, is an edge lit VA panel considered "better" than a edge lit IPS or do VA panels need to be backlit to get the benefits from them?
many thanks in advance |
