BBC Iplayer app compatibility ?

Apologies if this may be a bit of a dumb question.

I have a Panasonic B50PUS6703 TV and through Miricast I can connect with my Iphone to play ios apps such as Netflix and youtube through my TV.

However I seem unable to do the same with BBC iplayer. My TV similarly has the Iplayer app but the iphone ios app does not appear to be compatible ie I cant see it has the Miracast symbol.

Both my TV & Iphone have the latest versions of software.

Is it just me doing something wrong or is Iplayer not compatible with Miricast?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

It looks like the 50PUS6703 is a Philips Android based tv. Using the apps built into the tv directly it would save you having to connect via miracast.

As the tv is android based operating system it will also be a Chromecast so you could cast from Youtube. I'm not sure the BBC iPlayer app would have cast built in on the iOS app for Apple devices, android would of course as its a google technology. YouTube app does as its Google....

For clarity, I have an iphone not android. The iphone has the netflix, youtube and iplayer apps.The netflix & youtube apps (see pic) iphone apps both show the miricast symbol and I am able to connect to and  show on my Philips Tv.I cannot see the miricast symbol on my iplayer Iphone app so am unable to show iplayer from my phone through to my tv.

Whilst my my Phillips tv has iplayer built in, i find typing iplayer searches much easier through my iphone.

Is it just me or is the iphone iplayer app not compatible with miricast ?

That all makes a lot more sense now and why you use the phone at the controller.

The icon is the cast icon, its google cast rather than miracast which is different technology from intel (screen mirroring v cast)

I don't have an iPhone or iPad so can't answer your question sorry, I know it works from iPlayer app on Android as cast is built into the phone. BBC Support suggest it should work

The cast icon is used for all of the technologies, including miracast, google cast (aka Chromecast) and airplay.

That's not an Android TV model as far as I can see so it's more likely to have miracast support than google cast. I think Apple is finally working with TV manufacturers to implement Airplay support but it's not very widespread as yet.

Although I didn't think iOS has miracast support so I'm not sure what netflix and youtube are using in this case.

On my phone miracast had a different icon but stand corrected. The model is a "SAPHI is a fast, intuitive operating system", my error again I picked up android from another forum thread.

Intel, Amazon Firestick, Windows, many other brands, some androids support Miracast but definetly not Apple.

With all that in mind maybe a cheap Chromecast solves all your issues.
