in the current sales this is still around the 750 mark, is this still a good set to go for given other sets reduced prices.

Quite like that it has dolby vision and its been pretty well reviewed.

i currently have a 55 inch samsung from 2017/2018 and a first gen non hdr sony android tv and looking for this for a movie / gameplay room.

not bothered long term about the os as ive had a horrible experience with the sony android os due mainly to the performance of the processor but like the tizen interface.

will probably be getting a ps5 when it comes but dont want to go for oled for the 2.1 hdmi features that lg offer on theres due to concerns about long term usage for gaming, burnin etc.

absolute max budget is around the 1000 mark, maybe abit more but want to be budget concious and this has popped up on the radar.

Any advice appreciated.

I can vouch for the GX800/20 as i have both 40/58 and for the money you won’t be disappointed. I have a soft spot for VA and Panasonic and Samsung are the only brands to really use it. Black level performance is as good as you will get in this price range and for me its one of the top things i look for.

Accurate Color reproduction out the box is also fantastic with isf modes inc.

The smart platform is also fantastic as it’s slick and fast, my DX802 now 4 years old is as fast as the day i got it, having freeview play gives you the main catchup services and it’s co owned by the broadcasters!

For the price range its the best you can get!

The issue with the 58" is the 60hz panel. The direct competitor I would say is the Samsung Q60 which has similar HDR performance (if not Dolby Vision) but at the 55" size has a 120hz panel which I think makes this a better TV.

Even then, you have the Hisense U8B which has the performance levels or beyond of the big names, with local dimming and decent brightness, but at more 'realistic' prices.
