I was looking at adding ambilight to my current Samsung TV (ue48h6400)- is this possible?

Had a look online and can't really find much information on it (maybe i'm searching the wrong thing).

So my questions are:

1) If the TV doesn't come with it, can it be added on?
2) What are the options/pricing
3) Is it worth it (considering the costs) - don't watch that many films, mainly just normal tv.

Short answers in bold^^

I have a USB powered led desk lamp behind mine at the moment. Cost £11 if I remember correctly.
It works perfectly. No eye strain. Blacks look blacker. No reflection from other lights in the room because they are all switched off.

An AVF article to get you started here Do I need bias lighting for my TV?

Thanks, looks like i was searching for the wrong thing.

I've found a few kits on amazon for example: LED Light Strip, Mego Multi-coloured RGB 50cm for: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

However, it just seems to refer to USB only required. How does this link up tot he tv to change colours depending on the image on the tv. I'm assuming i need to ensure that my tv supports it?

Ah OK. I see what you meant now.
I'm changing my answer.
Achieving the full blown Philips colour matching ambilight effect is not possible.
Colour changes would be very distracting in my opinion anyway. I just want a gentle white light to improve the perceived picture quality.
Colour changing led strips are available, but they won't match on screen colours.

Not outrageously expensive either.
Doesn't appeal to me, but good to know about.
Thanks.

There are a couple of solutions around but this one appears to be the best in terms of how it works and support.

I've just gone with 6500K bias lighting for now but this certainly appeals to me.

Ambivision... it's exactly what you are looking for. I'm about to order it myself. Works with any device. It's a stand alone box. Hdmi to the ambivision box then to the tv. First of its kind. Check out YouTube videos... it changes color perfectly. And from what I see the reviews are all good thus far

Looks a bit dodgy to me, judging by the spelling mistake on the home page.
