Hi There,

Have been handed an 8ch Secyour DVR/NVR box by a family member as there is an Admin PW on it and the Drive failed.  So far I have swapped out the drive, all went fine, it was Formatted by the DVR, then it is asking for the Admin PW, which I am told was never set.

They have always left it blank and have been able to access all the recordings in the past.  Now we cant get into the box to set up anything.

This DVR has no makers markings at all, it is by chance that we found it was a Secyour box.  Purchased from Screwfix, who can not assist.  Cannot find a website for Secyour.

I am looking for a way to get into it, either a Master PW reset or firmware update, although cant even say what FW is on it, obviously.  Tried removing battery from the motherboard overnight, no joy.

Any pointers appreciated.

Hmmmm, that is for an "ERA" cctv unit, which is wireless, mine in not.  I did try 000000, have not tried with a space but give that a go....

You could try CCTV Cameras and Home Security - Express One as they seem to be the current re-brand / re-badge company for this stuff, which looks like cheap chinese generic kit that various UK importers have sold, including Adata, Qvis and Expressone. It looks like the box is at least 3 or 4 years old and is no longer manufactured. Good luck with the password

Thanks for that.  No joy with them directly but they did tell me what I needed to have in order to get a full reset on this box.  After trying to enter P/W a few times you get a Key Number, this is important and you need to record that number.

Then armed with this number, the original Invoice, which I did not have for the first 4 calls I rang Screw Fix, asking them if it is still under warranty.  Blab on about how you were sure it was a 2 year warranty.....lol

Then ask if they can get you a genuine phone number of the manufacturer so you might call them for help.

25 minutes on hold, they return with a number and a Name, QVIS.  We are making progress.
Call QVIS.  Prompt answer, good sign.  Then the kicker, they can only help Trade Account Holders.  Damn.  He tells me to call Screw Fix again and get them to call QVIS, who will then give them (Screw Fix) a Daily Reset Master Key, which will unlock my CCTV box.

Another 20 on hold with Screw Fix, tell the entire story over again, from the beginning.  Then I ask them to call QVIS for the Code.  "Not sure we can do that" was the reply....Arggggg.  Supervisor sought out, explained it all yet again, he say OK, we will call.  I give them the Key Number, they call QVIS, I wait, kettle on again, 18 minutes and I get a new Master P/W.  I insist on them staying on the line until my CCTV box springs to life.

Guess what?  I did.  Holy Smokes, what a farce.

19 Phone calls, over 90 minutes on the phone with Screw Fix, QVIS and several others.  6 e-mails with pictures and we eventually get up and running.

The odd this is that this magic "Daily Reset Code", which only works for 1 day, as it is allegedly based on the date on the processor chip on the Motherboard or something worked perfectly in resetting the box but when it had rebooted, the date was out by 4 days.......lol

Thanks to all for ideas and input.
