I’ve got a Hue hub with a colour light. I feel I already know the answer but is it possible to connect this to my WebOS LG smart TV?

Adverts make it look like it’s the norm but I’m pretty certain it’s not possible given my current setup, which is frustrating.

I want to buy more colour lights so they change when a movie is playing or if I’m playing music they change colours etc.

Any help, as always, will be appreciated.

As far as I know, you can only do this if you run your movies through a PC 1st, and use the Hue Entertainment app to sync your PC screen to the lights.

For music, you can use an app on your phone that syncs the lights in time with the beat picked up with your phones mic.

I think Philips should release a HDMI pass through box which converts the signal received by the TV and syncs the Hue lights to that, but as of now there isn't such a thing.

There's also a plugin for Kodi, should you go that way in the future. Great for fading lights down and up with movie playback or pause/stop.
