Am I going mad !!!

I see YT videos with people running Harmony activities (e.g. Play BluRay) that turn the Hue lights on, and then after 30secs turn the Hue lights turn off. Perfect as you can get up, whack a disc in the player and then sit down ready to start the movie.

Is this done via software coding or can it be done using a regular Harmony activity please?

Regular harmony activity (will need a harmony that uses a hub)

Edit your devices and add home control device, select hue and then press the button on the hue bridge.

It will then import all your Hue scenes and lights which you can then add within your startup command for an activity. Then just add in a delay of the length you’d like after everything has turned on and the lights will turn off after the delay.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve just tried the above but Harmony won’t let me add a “delay” after adding the Hue scene and I get the following error.

The delay needs to be before the Hue scene anyway

OK thanks. To confirm, I want the lights to turn off after thirty seconds.

So would the activity be this...
TV=On
Blu-Ray=On
Delay=30secs
Hue scene=Turns sofa on blue

Hmmm - I must be doing something odd then as just tested it and the light won’t go off.

The thing that confusing me is what’s telling Hue to turn it off as the activity is only telling the scene to turn on.

Here’s a screeny of the activity.

To confirm, the light is always OFF before the activity starts. So what I want is: turn on AV devices, turn on light, wait for 30secs, turn off light.

Sorry, my previous post was unclear

For turning off the lights when starting an activity you’ll need to tick each light in the room you want to control and then set the device state to “off”

When ending an activity, you can pick which scene you’d like it to turn back on to in the end sequence setting.

Just tested it with mine and even with a 60 second delay the lights seem to be switching off at the start of the activity rather than the end once all tech is turned on. Will need to look into it further.

As far as i can see there's no way to make a home control device perform more than one action. I had the same issue with Smartthings and gave up, in the end I fitted an IR light switch. The only way i can think to achieve what your after is if it's possible to create an extra activity within HUE that will switch a light on for a set period of time and use this when setting up your activity.
