The Running Man is everything a film should be. It has copious amounts of violence, plenty of one-liners and a clever storyline. Arnie plays his usual type of character, the badass strongman up against the system. Running Man was made in the late 80s, one of the glory eras for action films. Back then, violence counted, and in this film there is more than enough to keep you entertained. There are plenty of highlights, but the best scene is probably when Arnie chainsaws his enemy, a rather fat and sweaty 'chaser' between the legs. Suffice to say, said 'chaser' does not enjoy the experience...... Other highs include the big shootout at the end, when Arnie leads a small Army of computer geeks into battle with his trademark cigar taking pride of place in his mouth. Richard Dawson is superb as the sleazy game show host Killion, and his tete-a-tete with Arnie at the end is excellent! The music is your typical 80s pumping rock and suits the tone of the film very well. Of course the writers are assuming that in the future there will be a huge 80s revival, but there you go.... This is certainly one of Arnie's best outings. Its just a shame that today's movies are so tame. They would do well to replicate Running Man's levels of action.
