The college student Ryan Phan (Phi Vu) is the roommate of Carter Davis (Israel Broussard), who is in the dorm room with his girlfriend Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe). Ryan is researching a quantum reactor with his colleagues Samar Ghosh (Suraj Sharma) and Andrea 'Dre' Morgan (Sarah Yarkin) in the university lab. Out of the blue, Dean Roger Bronson (Steve Zissis) shutdown their experiment due to the power outages and consumption. Then Ryan is murdered by a criminal dressed as Babyface and awakes on the same day. When Ryan meets Carter and Tree, they learn that the reactor is the responsible for the loop and while trying to help Ryan, Tree is sent to another dimension where she is trapped in the same loop she was before. But the reality is different and she seeks Ryan and his friends expecting to close the loop sending her back to her dimension.
"Happy Death Day 2U" is a great and refreshing sequel of the original "Happy Death Day". The director and writer Christopher Landon succeeds making a sequel maybe better than the wonderful first film using more sci-fi than horror. Jessica Rothe is a great actress, capable to alternate funny and dramatic situations with top-notch performance. My vote is eight.
