Dance with Wolves, in my views, is a statement against all that modern society stands for: consumerism, exploitation, alienation and wanton usage of our world and its resources.

Dances with Wolves is also about the need for personal spiritual development that we westerners and many other people of developed countries hold in total disregard these days. A development in unison with nature as a companion, not something to be exploited.

And I always cry at the end, when Wind in Hair shouts out his sorrow to see his friends go. It touches something very deep inside me, as this whole film does. Dances with Wolves should be shown in schools as an important alternative view on life.
