Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers....oh boy!. We have quite a bit to go over here. Not all bad...not all good either...

So Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers is set six years after the events of Halloween 5, and Jamie Lloyd is being rushed into some kind of under ground hospital where she delivers a baby...Michael's baby. Yes you read right...MICHAEL'S BABY!. So the whole concept of this film is Jamie has Michael's baby because Michael is inflicted with the "thorn curse" which is the reason why he cant die. Michael shall be cursed with the thorn power until he kills off his entire bloodline and anyone associated with them. Now, Jamie has his baby and Michael finally kills off Jamie in this film so he can be "reborn" while the thorn curse is passed to someone else. That's the main concept of this film, theres a lot to understand here, and that can take some of the enjoyment out of this movie because theres so much you have to pay attention to and pick up on if you want to follow along with the film's plot. All of these things is why this is called "the worst Halloween sequel ever". But it isnt THAT bad of a movie, while it's a weird movie and not an easy plot to follow, Halloween 6 still has some good scenes and kills that feel a lot like Halloween 1, 2, and 4. Michael Myers, however doesnt seem to be as scary in this film as he was in the previous and future films because there is TOO much being explained about him here, in this film they make Michael seem innocent with him being inflicted with a curse an all you cant help but feel kinda bad for him, Michael has to kill everyone in his family and associated with them in order to get rid of his curse. So that strips Michael of a lot of his fear factors! So that there was a bummer and its why I took some points off of this movie. Another reason why I took points off this movie was because of Paul Rudd's horrific acting as now grown up Tommy Doyle (Tommy from the 1978 movie). Paul Rudd was a BAD choice for adult Tommy Doyle! His acting was WAY too much and he over did it. There was a scene where Michael grabbed Tommy by the neck and lifted him into the air, and Paul Rudd actually stuck his tongue all the way out and made horrible and FAKE choking noises. His acting was SO bad it was laughable!. So I took points away for Paul Rudd's over the top acting!. Bad casting people! However not the entire cast in this film was bad, as usual Donald Pleasance as Dr. Loomis (mind you this was Donald's LAST appearance in the Halloween films due to his death before this film was even released), The actress of Kara Strode wasnt too bad either! I kinda liked her actually. The score to this film is okay but not as good as the soundtrack of the previous films, Halloween 6's soundtrack had a goth guitar vibe, the Halloween theme had guitar riffs so I mean the H6 soundtrack wasnt bad. But didn't entirely work to set up the atmosphere and tone for the film.

That pretty much sums up my review for Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. If you havent seen this installment of the series and are thinking about checking it out, I'd say go for it but DONT watch the theatrical R rated version, look for the UNRATED PRODUCERS CUT of this film. The unrated cut provides a better explanation with better scenes so I recommend the Unrated Producers Cut of Halloween 6. You can find it on amazon video for around $2.99ish.

My final rating for Halloween 6: 7 out of 10

score 7/10
