OK haunted house fare, better than OK family movie

Haunted Mansion, The - Inspired by a Disney theme park ride, a workaholic home realtor and his family headed for a `family adventure', but get sidetracked to put a once stately mansion on the market that has become the cursed home to undead residents. There are a few pleasures to be had here, and one is in the surprisingly beautiful art direction, and two is from Eddie Murphy's typical shtick and the kids. The ghosts on the other hand don't give us much enjoyment (which is the opposite on the actual ride), except two housekeeping spirits and the four singing statue heads. The story is familiar and the little twist that Nancy Drew can spot a mile away is rather dull. It's a better family movie, with lessons about bravery and importance of family, than it is haunted house fare.
