Rega Planar 2 versus Elipson Omega 100 riaa bt

Hi All,

I am completely torn between the great reviews for the Rega Planar 2 versus the in built functions and also very good reviews for the Elipson Omega 100 riaa bt.

I  want to stream vinyl to a Sony HT-ST5000 soundbar along with my B&W Bluetooth headphones. If I go with the Rega I believe I can get an AptX BT transmitter but the Elipson has BT built in.

I also like the fact the Elipson has a built in electronic speed controller and I've heard good things about the Ortofon cartridge.

Price for both solutions would be about the same and the BT transmitter I have in mind could also stream a separate CD player. Project PHONOBOX E BLUETOOTH

Could anyone advise on this? Planar vs Elipson being the main quandary.

A £500  turntable with a soundbar. That just doesn't make sense to me. The most important part of any audio reproduction is going to be the speakers and so some extent headphones. A soundbar is never going to have the same impact as a pair of quality speakers and in essence that's what a quality TT deserves. Same goes for headphones, a wired pair will always sound better than wireless from a high quality source.

Your comment got cut short but I was intending to use the Project Phono Box E BT as the phono preamp to send via BT to my powered sound bar.

To be fair the Sony HT-ST5000 is pretty impressive and there's no way I could afford to spend as much on a pair of speakers as I did on the soundbar.

I do understand wired would be better and I may be able to manage that but I don't really have room for a separate pair of speakers. The wife's just sent my B&W DM6..xx something or others from 1996 to the garage!

Fair enough and I suppose buying a Rega would give you a good foothold for improving the system.
