Hi guys,

currently moving house and it will have 2 reception rooms.
I have a Cambridge audio 651a amp with mordaunt short mezzos, my question is, I want to add a second set of speakers to the amp via speaker set B, I know it’s very simple to do it wired but, is there an option out there to connect a set of passive or active speakers to the amp?

Wired speakers are passive. Active speakers don't need an additional amp as theirs is built in. You could buy a pair of actives and use a Chromecast for streaming purposes.

You can add a second set of passive speakers onto the second set of speaker binding posts but you will need to check the impedance of your current speakers and the second set as they are both likely to have to be nominally 8 ohms.

The 651a also has a pre out that you can connect to a set of active speakers that have built in amps. I think you may need to use Speaker B posts for your passive set in this case so you can turn them off if you want to, the actives will always have a signal so need to be turn off on the speakers. Finally, depending on the gain of the 651a and active speakers they may not increase volume the same, on e getting louder quicker than the other.
