Hi does anyone know what would be the best sound for this system since most of my collection is on CD please?

I've been looking at what's available so Audiolab, Cambridge audio and Cyrus CDI and transport are highly rated.
But what about the Pioneer Blu-ray? This is supposed to be great stereo quality.
Incase you don't know the IOTA has a Wolfson DAC but hopefully I can afford to upgrade this in the future.
It's a long journey
TIA

The Pioneer LX500? Great with multi channel SACD and pretty good with stereo CD if connected by analogue to a stereo amp. I own the LX500 and had it running through my Rega Elicit-R via RCA in direct mode. A very good player if you want a one box solution. I also have a Denon DCD 2500NE and it is stunning. Even on redbooks it will easily outperform the Pioneer. The onboard DAC and AL32 processing get's every note out of a redbook and brings really good ones almost up to SACD standard.

I also own a Marantz sa8005 SACD player and Denon DBT 3313 blu ray transport and again the Denon outperforms both of these with some ease. The Denon has a PCM1975 32bit DAC but I believe it is the sheer quality of components and build in the analogue circuit that brings out the very best.

Thanks Gibbsy Yeah I meant the LX500. Is the Dennon the new model? I wonder how they would compare to the transports I mentioned? Not sure which way to go and it's a pain demoing as I'd have to buy each one to see which works best

The 2500 has been out about three years I think. There are a number of owners both established and new on here and we all report the same amount of detail that it can glean from a standard redbook. I use mine exclusively with a Lehmann Linear headphone amp and for most of the time with an Oppo PM1 pair of headphones and I just can't stop listening to music on it. I'm hearing detail, depth that even my Marantz SACD player couldn't deliver with the same set up.

Here's a very good in depth review of the Denon with test results. Along with recommendations from members here this was the deciding factor.

I’ve got both the Audiolab 6000A and recently acquired the accompanying 6000CDT. Very, very impressive kit. Looks great. Loads of features. terrific build quality. Sound quality is outstanding. Cyrus CD transports are very highly regarded.
People will disagree but, in my experience, transports do make a difference.

Thanks Costello I like the Audiolab and Cyrus have Disc insert as tray loading is a bit of a faff. Only problem is I sometimes watch movies so might go with the Pioneer.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate all

The Pioneer has a direct mode. To use it you have to have an analogue connection to an amp and it will work very well. It's built like a tank with a really smooth action on the tray and is a great one box solution. Film soundtracks are great on it as are DVD concerts. If and when you get it for best CD play run it in 'Source Direct' on the audio mode otherwise you may think you've lost the sound on CDs.
