Rega’s take on the integrated amplifier might seem almost minimalist compared to some rivals in 2017 but there’s good reasons for this approach.

Auditioned the amplifier a little while back and have to agree with everything @Ed Selley summed up in his review. A great little amplifier.

I have been enjoying my Brio for about a month now and I do agree it is a lovely sounding little amp. It has been a great match with my Dali Zensor 3s. However I do not agree with the reviewer on the build quality. I have two of them and both have cheap feeling volume knobs and not so great build quality, specially the materials used.

"the result is utterly free of harshness or aggression"

So, to be clear this amp is not able to deliver the visceral impact in programme material, like Rage Against the Machine's gut wrenching bass slams; and hell hath no fury drum work; and in your face vocals; and so on?  Its more of a laid back type of presentation?

Is it able to deliver the tonal textures in the same album, and even other music tracks?

Hello,

Thank you for the lovely review mr Selley. I have read elsewhere the amp gets rather hot. Can you say something about this please?

Best regards

Geoff

Just received this amp today to pair with my debut carbon esprit and focal arias. Would the rega fono stage add anything to the mix or is this just overkill?

I have one and have been delighted with it , I had gone to buy a Cyrus one but the dealer played them back to back and the Rega got my vote. I would say its pretty neutral in its presentation i run mine through a pair of MA Apex a40s and a BK Genesis Sub and it can make them sing remember its only rated at 50w though it sounds a good deal more powerful. As regards build quality the case is bullet proof but Im not keen on the volume knob either, Rega could have done better. Sonically though its a belter!

Mine is on 24/7 and barely warm to the touch driving the Dali Zensor 3s .. Never got to the point I would call hot.
