So as we just downsized into an apartment , I sold my Kef 300's and Yamaha RXV1800 then moved onto a sound bar (Samsung HWQ90R) I really didn't get on with the bar. It was hopeless with music and not much better with movies . So a rethink of my setup was needed . I returned the sound bar and noticed some nice Kef LS50W in the showroom ( with 30% off ) A bit of research and I'm thinking these could be what I'm looking for , I enjoyed my Q300's with Apple Music and Apple TV . I don't have room in the new place for a dedicated AVR or any other amp for that matter .
So I'm thinking LS50W hooked up with optical through my TV and stream with Apple Music/AppleTV as I've done for a few years. Any reason this shouldn't work and sound good ? Would I be better off using Tidal instead of Apple Music ? Or even streaming with another music streamer , I'm not sure how good/bad the Apple TV is with music , I've never heard anything else to compare.
I also want to try the Kef's with movies , My TV as built in Atmos enabled speakers (Panasonic GZ2000) with a Polk PSW111 sub, But I'm thinking the Kef's will still sound better and still do my music justice .
Can anyone advise me how to proceed ? Maybe a few tweaks or a different streamer or even a different streaming service perhaps ? Or even different speakers ? Although I've not come across active speakers in the LS50 price range that get really great reviews as the Kef's do . |
