£1000 budget new stereo set up recommendations.

A friend of mine is looking at getting a good set up with a budget of around £1000.

He would like:-

Turntable
Amp
CD player
Speakers

He would also like the facility to stream (Spotify, Apple etc) as well as DAB / Internet radio.

His listening room is approx 30 m2 ish.

My first impressions were:-

Rega Planar 1
Yamaha RN602
Marantz CD6006
Monitor Audio Bronze 2

I'm not too sure if the above would compliment each other???

Over to you for other suggestions.

What you've listed is perfectly acceptable.

Maybe swap the RN602 for a Marantz PM6006   Chromecast.

That certainly seems well balanced.

But... isn’t there always? You might be better off considering these speakers instead.

The Yamaha you mentioned as it’s about the best available for the price (same price in RicherSounds)

Then I’d suggest this instead of the 6006 (if the budget is tight after allowing for the extra for the Kef R100s) and probably use the dac in the Yamaha.

And the Rega is the obvious choice at your budget.

So, apart from swapping the MAs for the Kefs, I’d say it sounds like a mighty fine way to spend a thousand pounds.

Add a chrome cast audio at £20 for streaming leaves about £300-350 for a turntable.

Vested interest - I have a linn axis on the classified on here for around that figure.

Or look out for a Rega Planar 3 and RB300, you may get lucky. Or for around £200-250 the Nad 533 is a Rega planar 2 with an rb250 arm.

Just a thought, this is a £3k  new system for £1000.
