What is the point of wireless chargers?

I spent an hour searching for the optional phone case back that had the wireless charging bit in it. No luck anywhere. I could still find the charging pad though. As for whizzy case, I found one site that reckoned that it had stock, but it looked a bit dodgy.

So close, yet so far ... sigh.
