I read something about the way Marshmallow treats SD cards - something called adoptable storage
You can put an SD card in as an extension to the internal hard drive, and it 'fuses' data (perhaps from a user's perspective a little like how a mac fuses spinning drives and SSDs), and the experience is supposed to be considerably more seamless than what we've had in the past. That said, the SD card is linked to the phone, and should you attempt to switch it, you'd lose the benefits temporarily

*just googled it. my info was based on a prediction last week about why S6 dropped it and S7 is bringing it back. supposedly S7, despite having SD cards, shunned adoptable storage.
