my phone contract with o2 ends next month, and about time too as I’m sick of paying over the odds for an old phone and very poor signal and data. I’ve decided to keep the phone and just go SIM only on Voxi or Giffgaff, but I can’t decide.

My wife uses Giffgaff and they’ve been decent but things look good with Voxi, the only thing putting me off is that the payments recur every 30 days rather than every month. That doesn’t suit me as I would want a regular payment date so it goes out after payday.

What do you lot all think of those two, anyone on Voxi and can you confirm the 30 day recur is correct?

I guess a lot depends on where you live / work (re coverage) and how much data you use. I joined Plusnet a couple years and haven't looked back.

I think coverage in my flat will be poor regardless as I live by some power lines and it causes poor signal on my work and personal phone. I could use the extra data and endless social media on Voxi and would jump in with both feet if not for that 30 day refresh thing.

GiffGaff I believe uses O2. So no gain there. Voxi uses Vodaphone.
I use PlusNet, great service and it uses the biggest network EE.

A couple o people are saying they’re on PlusNet and that it’s good...do they do SIM only deals and no contract etc? Might have to take a look if they do.

I was about to move to GiffGaff but then came across VOXI and plumbed for it as it was cheaper and the Social data package was a no brainier. Plus I was with Vodafone so very easy to move over as used the same SIM and they just swapped my plans over.

You can renew your plan manually if you need to, in fact that is what I do as my PayPal reoccurring payment keeps failing for some reason.

The only issue I have is my other-half has a works phone on the Gamma network that VOXI won't call without an additional plan as I think it's classed as a premium number.

That’s a strange one. I’ve never even heard of the Gamma network. I was considering PlusNet but they gave me the wrong number and so I just jumped to Giffgaff for now so I can use my PAC code from O2 and end the contract ASAP. I might consider Voxi eventually, it does look like the best for data and social networking but I just want to be able to set up a direct debit and forget about it, I don’t want the possibility of it charging early because of the 30 day refresh rate.

Are Virgin worth a look? They also piggy-back on EE, and you get some sort of social media thing as well. They often have good offers on data. I'm on 8Gb a month, tripled to 24gb with rollover of unused data for £15 a month, but I think they recently did a 10gb for £10 deal, also rolling over...

That’s not a bad deal at all. How often do they roll over, is it every 30 days or every month? I need the knowledge that my payments are coming out on a certain day of the month rather than after 30 days. For now I have just joined Giffgaff as I was able to cancel my contract yesterday which is a month earlier than originally thought. I jumped on giffgaff but might still look at others.
