fps beginner

I'm a beginner when it comes to shooter games,I tried dead effect 2 but the triggers wouldn't work on my xbox 1,I spent an hour or more looking for fixes and found nothing
I would appreciate any advice on games that would be good for an elder beginner...thanks
os is win 7 on my computer that I built for gaming...

Avoid any sort of 'twitch' shooter, especially competitive games. something like ghost recon wildlands would be good - you can take as long as you like to plan an attack, and you can even team up with others who can help you through missions

Destiny 2 is another option, the base game will be free to download on 1st October so might be worth a try

The Far Cry games are good fun. Also the Sniper Elite franchise is worth a look for a slower play style. However I would highly recommend Borderlands 2 and it's DLC, I've stuck in over 300 hours play time. You can pick it up for £3.99 on CD Keys.

Also agree with Borderlands 2, def worth a go.
Fantastic game with great lore and humor, some of the missions to do are simply crazy.
And its alot of fun gameplay wise.
