Hi there, I'm needing a bit of help in choosing a good gaming monitor for my son. His pc is Windows 10, 16gb ram and an Nvidia rtx 2080ti 11gb graphics card.
At the moment he has an acer xf240h 144hz. And I'm looking for a better one than this and haven't really got a clue. I'm in the UK. Thanks.

What is wrong with his current one?
What does he want from the new one?

There is very little point paying extra for G-Sync these days. A much cheaper Freesync monitor that is G-sync compatible will do fine.

Thankyou. Can you recommend one. Ideally larger than 24 inches. Specifically for gaming and a bit better than the one I have for him.

Hola! - i'm using Asus ROG Swift PG278Q
it's 27in 2560x1440px IPS panel with 144hz refresh rate
and i'm reasonably happy with it - i wen't specifically with IPS panel as i need that for a bit of design work that i do in on... still - quite capable screen for gaming

cheers

As with everything  how much do you want to spend?

With those specs you should be looking at high end monitors. Minimum 1440p 27" 144Hz with freesync, or Ultra wide 34" 3440 x 1440p with freesync. Don't waste your time with 4K unless you are playing on a decent TV capable of 75Hz or better.

If it’s for gaming, don’t go UWHD or curved for that matter. I had an ASUs 34” curved monitor which frankly was a pain on games and streaming with.

A good quality 2K monitor such as the ASUS ROG PH279Q offers 165Hz when on DisplayPort. IPS/G-Sync etc is what you need.

Most GPU on modern games will be running 120-144fps but always nice to know you’re the KING of gaming when you have the potential to run 165fps!

I play a lot of FPS game and yes, running 100fps vs 165fps is very noticeable.
