Hi All

i need those FPS!

I’ve decided I’m taking the plunge into PC gaming. I’ve looked for hours now but can’t decide what I need or what’s the best setup. I hope someone can help.

I want to hit 1080p min at frames 80  ideally into 100. RTX would be very nice also. Games like apex, BF5, gta and open world games..

Of course I will also need monitor and K/M

Budget;
Circa 1200 for PC
monitor circa 350 (hdr an option?)
M/K no idea tbh!

Any advice would be much appreciate.

Are you wanting a pre-built system or are you planning to build yourself ?

Either way you should get a good system for that budget also i would aim for 27" 1440p at that level.

Hz over resolution any day.
But then again, FPS over AA/Ultra as well.
With that budget, price up everything bar the GPU.
I would look at Ryzen 3600, 16GB dual channel memory and an SSD along with a decent PSU.
Whatever you have left spend on the GPU.

If you want 80  frames at 1080p then I'd be looking at a Ryzen 3600 based system with a gpu in the 1660 super to RX 5700 range. Don't feel that you have to spend the whole budget, just spend what you need to meet your performance target. A decent 144Hz 1080p monitor will cost around £200.

If you want to step it up to 1440p then go for an RX 5700 XT. An equivalent 144Hz 1440p monitor will be around the £300 mark. Overall it should cost an extra £200-250 or so to target 1440p over 1080p as many of the components (cpu, ram, psu, hdd) will be the same.
