He was only 55, died too young.

Very sad to hear.
Although we knew he was having health issues didn't realise he was this bad.

So sad, I'm in shock! Like others have said I know he had health problems but didn't know it was this bad, my word!

Nintendo directs won't be the same, I'm gonna miss him saying his phrase 'directly to you'. RIP sir.

Sad news indeed. I've been having a bit of a nintendo renaissance recently and will continue to do so. For all the Wii U's failures it's still got some superb games

Blimey, this is sad news and like others have said, I knew he had health issues but didn't realise it was this serious.  I echo what Adam said above that despite the Wii U's poor sales record, the console under his reign has arguably some of the best games (across all formats) ever.

RIP Satoru

Really sad news, I'm feeling pretty shocked this morning. To hear what he's been going through and yet still remained committed to his post has made me respect the guy even more.

Now we know why he wasn't at E3. I hope reading about the backlash against the E3 presentation in his hospital bed didn't tip him over the edge.

Just read about his demise, bile duct growth. Game Over! RIP

A quote from the man and Nintendo sure did make fun games.

Oh Lord. What terribly sad news! I'm shocked. This came out of nowhere for me. I didn't know it was a life threatening illness.

Only 55 too Terrible.
