FIFA18 problem

Bought FIFA18 on my switch. It’s the first football game I’ve bought in 20 years.

I’m playing in career mode. Durk no preseason I bought & sold a few player no problem. Then at the start of the season whilst the window was still open I bought one player who even accepted the personal terms contract etc, but he’s not it my Squad and remains at his current club.

Any idea why?
