I started it years ago, but preferred the feel of Fusion, but have given it another go this past week and it's brilliant! Especially when you finish the remake of the original game and get onto the all new part of the game, which (no spoilers) completely changes the stakes and is amazingly tense!

Sorry, I know this is old news for most people, but if you haven't played it I recommend buying it on Wii U as trying to get a legit cart on eBay is next to impossible.

Agreed, I love it. Possibly slightly more than Super Metroid if I'm honest. I treated myself to a copy before a job interview at Kuju Entertainment, and got chatting to a couple of the guys there about their love of Metroid. I didn't get the job but got invited back to playtest Battalion Wars a few months later!

Nice, I always preferred Fusion over Zero Mission, but that's because I didn't give ZM a proper chance. Now replaying Fusion to be able to properly judge, before I go give Super Metroid a go too. I think I'll probably still prefer Fusion because of the sense of dread everytime the antagonist appears.

If you're interested in videos on the Metroid series, KingK and Geek Critique have both covered the entire series with some excellent retrospectives.

Completed both ZM and Fusion now - got Samus Returns and Super Metroid to play next - should I play them in that order, as although SR is much newer, it's a remake of the Gameboy game that came out before SM?

I'd play Samus Returns first, as it's got a slightly different action-focused flow. It's a nice palette cleanser between the more traditional adventures.

The chronological order is
1. ZM
2. Samus Returns
3. Super Metroid
4. Fusion

Yeah I supposed I should go with chronological, just a bit worried SM will feel old after I play the SR remake
