Thrustmaster steering and pedals or controller xbox one?

I play Forza Horizon 3 a fair amount now and have the opportunity to get hold of a Thrustmaster  Ferrari steering and pedals all in one unit for a xbox one s.
Will it make my lap times better or worse ?
I am old school and more used to driving a car than using a game controller --probably different to a younger generation !
But will I waste my money if it makes things worse?

If it is a wheel that has force feedback then yes you will do better, if it is the wheel that has an RRP of £70 don't bother I had it and sold it, no force feedback, I tried it on dirt Rally and with no feedback was just strange and felt unresponsive, an Elite pad is better £100 with a free game in Argos at the moment
