XB 1 Ext HDD

Hi,
I am at a complete loss how to get an ext HDD to connect to my xb1. I have a USB 3.0 sata cable connected to a Samsung 2.5" ST640LM001. My Xbox only sees this as a media drive only
. I have tried every solution via yt, forums, Xbox site etc but it simply cannot be formatted for using with games?

I have formatted as exfat, NTFS and using formatfat32 GUI?

If I were to guess it may be more to do with your SATA dock, is it just a cable not an enclosure ?

Perhaps it's not delivering enough power to the drive and Xbox then tags it as media only. It wont cost much in getting another 2.5 enclosure to test with if that is the problem.

You need to have your Xbox format it to use for installing games. I'm not at my Xbox now to test, but if a message doesn't pop up when you connect it, try going into settings then storage to choose the drive & format it there.
