Question Xbox one S update.

I've not owned a console for years, and wondered if the Xbox S is worth the cost. I have a new spec 4K UHD TV, will the new console add to the viewing as it's also in 4K UHD? For £200 is it worth the money?

The console only plays 4K content from 4K Blurays and the in built streaming apps.

Games themselves, while upscaled to 4K still play at a maximum resolution of 1080p.

For proper 4K gaming you need a One X

Steve, With the One X do you really notice the difference, and do you need the newer games to make it better, or do the old games work better too?

Yes there’s a significant difference, especially on the newly Enhanced games but all games work better, even if just in frame rate and anti-aliasing (jaggies) terms.

Bear in mind that a lot of older games (even Xbox 360 games) are being enhanced for the One X so there are a lot that take advantage of its extra power.

The latest PS4 has some excellent reviews. Would you pay the extra £100 for the xbox one over Sony. I'm just about ready to buy on for the other to be honest.

If you have mates who you may want to game with then you may want to consider what machine they have but other wise I’ll break it down like this:

PS4

Playstation VR
Better exclusive titles (both existing and coming)
Not proper 4K (chequerboard at best)
Controller is marmite
No 4K Blu-ray player

One X

Play every recent cross platform games better
Backward compatibility
Proper 4K
Better controller (IMO)
4K Blu-ray player

Most 4K TVs will have the apps in the tv that the Xbox One S or X can provide.

Obvs if you want a console & a 4K Blu-Ray Player the S & X can do that additionally.

You should be able to pick up a S Console for cheap over Xmas in the sales. Some deals (if you immediately took the free games to CEX for cash) made the console £150 or less.

The X is a big chunk of cash £450 if your not really going to game on it.

The games that are enhanced for X are hit & miss how good the enhancements are I think.

I’ve played a lot of games on my X and there are certainly more hits than misses.

Also, every single non Enhanced game I’ve played on it plays and looks better, especially Xbox 360 games!

I have a xbox one s as I couldn't wait. If I was buying now, i woudl fork out extra for the X.

I will only be playing with myself, rather than on-line with others. But I'll splash out on the one x as I have just enough money right now. Is there anyone offering a free game you can choose for yourself? I like the sniper games in truth.
