New Xbox one for Christmas, but it is driving me mad setting it up.

I have to boys, I am the adult and I set them both up with a gmail email account, both with microsoft accounts, then tried to set up the xbox for them both.

I want them to have to sign in so they can't play on each others games (i mean one child makes progress but the other then piggy backs on it, I want them to have their own progress and so they cannot access the others), so I set up a passkey for them both, but it does not ask for a passkey before starting games so what is the point?

Also if we are all signed in, it is a simple matter to switch between the users with no restrictions.

If I sign out, then you have to enter your microsoft password to re sign in, which is not what I wanted. I wanted to have to use the passkey (six digit code) to sign in and out.

Can someone help how I set it up for family use where the children are not disciplined enough to not use each others accounts.

Thanks

The passkey is used to stop another member of the family logging in or making purchases without consent. If you set them all as auto sign in then it won't help.

It won't restrict games being played unless you state age restrictions.

Maybe have a look at the Xbox Support pages and then tell the kids to use their own gamertags for games. Don't think MS will restrict that if they all sign in and then switch between them.

Does everyone have their own personal controller? You can set controllers to sign-in a specific account when the controller is powered on. I think this is done in the Xbox Accessories app.
