This is the second time my portable hdd is not being recognised by the Xbox.

Once reformatted and then plugged back in it is then recognised by the Xbox and formatted by Xbox ready for game saves.

Probably second time in 5/6 months.

Am I better off giving it one last go or do I need to be looking at another hdd drive ?

Or is there a better option as the Xbox is 500gb and is pretty much full ?

Thanks

Could be a cable or power issue, perhaps drive is fine but the enclosure is buggy. Not a whole lot of options, what you could do is buy a new cheap USB HDD enclosure for £20 and if the drive gives out again then you know it was that. If the drive lives you saved yourself buying a new one.

Alternatively go buy a USB SSD drive for 500GB £94 or a 1TB for £160 and get the benefit of the speed boost from that.

To be honest I’ve got a 4TB usb hdd sat in a box in drawer which may be used if it goes again.
