This is what I used to build mine. The stuff I bought is for heavy duty use.

This Raspberry Pi motherboard is a computer. 1.2 Ghz quad core CPU, 1 gig memory, built in wifi and bluetooth. Also has 4 USB ports and an Ethernet port. It uses a microSD card for storage (SSD). It can be used for many projects.



Dual fan setup for overclocked CPU. My 100000/40 card OC the CPU to 1.3 Ghz. My 4500/12 card don't. Also a PSU that's a little more powerful for stability. And of course, a neat little NES box.









All that for $90 and change. The cards were extra. The Raspberry Pi can be used as a PC system with the Raspian OS. Plug in your USB keyboard and mouse and away we go!

Got wifi? Get online with it.

By the way, my NES box has a working power and reset switches. Lots of boxes don't so pay attention to that.

I mentioned before that I was a Commodore 64 nut. I know all about it, the programming, the insides and repairs, the whole lot. That was in the 80s and computers are expensive. The IBMs were in thousands of dollars and strictly for business. This is what we are using now as IBM clones. It had come a long way from monochrome to 4 colors to 16 million colors. Drive space were expensive as hell like $350 for a 20 meg HDD. Most of the time the floppies and tapes were used for storage.

This made the Commodore 64 a very attractive computer which were only a few hundred dollars. It also use a floppy drive as well a tape drive but it had color graphics and sound. Most other home computers like Apple, ZX Spectrum and Atari were attractive options. They can do serious work like Word and Spreadsheet just like the big boys but best of all, we can game with em.

Now you got a little history. I wanted the Commodore Amiga so bad but they were pretty well expensive and out of my reach. Thanks the lord for the C64 and I had loads of fun with it. In the 90s we started having emulations and roms but the PCs back then had a lot of latency because of the lack of CPU power.

Nowadays we have powerful PCs and fantastic emulations and roms that sites were popping up all over the place offering goodies. This is when I got the C64 and Amiga Forever software after I put together my Retropie console. I liked the Amiga so much that I joined the English Amiga Board to learn more about it. A member there who is also a mod put up his front end with everything put together for anyone who wants to download it. They also have an FTP which is friggin loaded with Amiga stuff like ezines to CD as well as roms of all kinds. It also has other console roms up for grabs.

By the way, his name is Damien and he's well respected and he works hard to provide us with the greatest experience with Amiga. I'm glad I found this board.

Now Nintendo is causing problems with the sites offering roms that they are shutting down the roms sections. No idea how far it will get (like those links y'all posted) so grab all you can. I got all I can get and then some.

Got my pi3b  ordered, looking forward to trying out retropi.
Do them 8bitdo pads work with the pi? Or any cheap Bluetooth pads?

Any USB controller will work so get a 360 controller or at least a Super Nintendo controller. You can also use an USB mouse and USB keyboard. There's 4 USB ports available.

The 8bitdo pads work well. I have the N30 pro and the SF30 pro the later is the better as its larger and nicer in the hands plus its a SNES pad with analog so its awesome.
