Just bought a Kanger topbox mini. I am using the coil that was installed (0.15 Ω Ni 200 coil(TC)


Bloke in shop said to use it between 30 and 40 watts.Just googling and it says with the Ni coil to use in Temp mode.Something about Nickel particles?
I think I have tried to run before I can even crawl .
Can anybody t ell me what settings I should use please?

Check it is the ni200 that is in, set to temp mode nickel. Lock resistance (look up manual or online if unsure) and try somewhere from 450f to 520f is often about the good range for temp mode.
Do not use a nickel coil in wattage mode.

If it is a ni200 power is usually automatic and just change max temp.

Not sure if i have messed something up. Tastes burnt.Get a very sweet taste on my lips.And vapour is very hot, cannot breathe in more than a couple of seconds.Set on 450f Ni.
Did do a few puffs in watt mode,as thats what the bloke in store said.|Set it all up in there, but the battery needed charging so couldnt try it in store.

Anything above 280f is too hot.At least a lot hotter than with the pen. Whilst in the shop I tried loads of different flavours using one of their set ups, was great.Great taste, and loads of smoke.

Just watched a YT video.Unboxing, presenter shows a card that came in the box.On it, it says for this coil use temp control, max wattage 20-45.
The display on mine says 0.31 Ohm? 75.0w and the temp

If tastes burnt it may have had it, temp control is usually cooler and able to take much longer puffs so dunno whats going on there need to be carefull with new coils.
Might be better to start again, stick the 0.5ohm SS in there top up tank and go to wattage mode.  It's simpler.
Start low at 20w, not sure what the kanger 0.5 coils can handle, possibly up to 40w is about norm. Leave it to soak in the tank for good 10mins then go easy on the puffs untill sure it's ready to go so dont burn it. Can prime coil with drops of juice into cotton if want but as long as left to soak for a while you should be ok.
Open airflow full btw for lung hitting.

This may be worth a shot.

If you haven't already, with the unit powered on remove the tank. Press fire so the 'atomiser missing' icon flashes and reattach the tank. When you press fire this time it should ask you if it's a new coil - press the correct button for 'yes'. If not, repeat until it does.

Now you will have the correct readings for your coil and can change the settings to power or TC as desired. This was the same mistake I was making when I bought mine and like yourself, even around 100c was too hot.

On the vtc mini in TC mode it has a watt setting as well, this is for the speed of getting to the temp.  You should be able to set that to the lower watt. You are heating the coil too quickly I guess...

And the tank needs to be setup at room temperature, the coil will read a higher resistance when it is hot...
