I love wine - perhaps a little too much , however whilst I'm eating I think it ruins the subtle tastes of the food.
Its like enjoying listening to a string quartet and then Jimi Hendrix jumps in with a 10,000 Watt lead solo, both individually fab - just not together.

Am I weird or does anyone else think the same?

I acknowledge: you are weird.

IMHO, wine is the perfect companion for a good meal.

I would suggest that you start drinking a better quality wine as judging by your simile you are actually drinking vinegar

Nope, it's not that - I regularly eat round at friends who are complete foodies and very knowledgeable about good wine and what goes with what - still doesn't help.

I won't be specific but myself and the missus are members of the Wine Society (highly recomended)...

Fine Wine, En Primeur & Wine Tastings : The Wine Society

The missus does the ordering as she's pretty knowledgeable - and I help her with the drinking.

Let's turn the question on its head and ask who does the cooking? Maybe the food is at fault...

Roast beef, yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, parsnips, gravy, salt, pepper, mustard and wine are some of the constituents of a Sunday lunch. If they all gel well together except the wine which you find jarring to the palate I would suggest that the problem is that you don't really like wine - after all the rest of the world can't be wrong
