I think they are great to get people moving, dont get me wrong. My wife has a fitbit zip which is as basic as they come but it has inspired her to to walk more which is great.
The big picture is these things could be on another level in a few years. As a Personal Trainer this is something I could buy and lend/rent to my clients which would allow me to see if they have been active or skipped a few sessions and so on. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but some people would respond very well to it.
Even bigger picture is wearable tech can be used to monitor our overall health and allow doctors to make quicker, more accurate diagnosis.
They could also help reduce health or life insurance costs and lots more. |
